Timestamp authority
An independent service that signs a statement that a piece of data existed at a given time.
A timestamp authority is an independent party that receives a digest of some data and returns a signed token stating the time it received it. RFC 3161 is the internet standard for these tokens. Anyone who holds the data can check the token later: if the data had changed, its digest would no longer match.
Meilynx anchors the audit chain with tokens from two independent timestamp authorities. A token shows that the anchored records existed by the time it states and have not changed since.
